Rail Cargo Information Netherlands signs Memorandum of Understanding with UIRR

Read on

On 25 May, Caroline Koiter signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on behalf of Rail Cargo Information Netherlands with the UIRR (International Union for Road-Rail Combined Transport). This marks a strong commitment from both parties to further develop and promote Combined Transport – the smart integration of road and rail – as a sustainable solution for long-distance freight across Europe.

Meest duurzame modaliteit

Founded in 1970 and based in Brussels, UIRR represents the interests of Combined Transport (CT) operators and terminals. The organisation plays an active role in shaping European policy, supports members in day-to-day operations, and drives the modal shift towards rail.

At Rail Cargo Information Netherlands, we believe real progress starts with collaboration. By joining forces with UIRR, we proudly support the #CT4EU campaign – a European initiative that highlights the full potential of Combined Transport. This approach contributes to:

  • a more energy-efficient European transport system

  • better utilisation of infrastructure

  • increased labour productivity in logistics

  • significant CO₂ reductions

  • improved transport safety

“Signing this MoU marks an important step in our ambition to make the benefits of Combined Transport more visible within the Dutch market,” said Caroline Koiter.
“We look forward to working closely with UIRR and its network to exchange knowledge, stay aligned with policy developments, and jointly strengthen a more efficient and sustainable logistics chain.”
