At the transport logistic trade fair in Munich, the Dutch rail freight sector – together with European partners – launched a new multilingual brochure: 10 Reasons to Choose Rail Freight. This publication is aimed at shippers and logistics service providers looking for reliable, sustainable and future-proof logistics solutions.

Current developments in the market

The content of the brochure responds to current developments in the market — such as increasing sustainability pressure, growing road congestion, CO₂ targets, the shortage of drivers, and the need for greater predictability in supply chains. Rail freight offers a proven alternative.

The brochure highlights ten strategic advantages of rail, including:

  • Lower greenhouse gas emissions compared to road transport
  • Higher energy efficiency and reduced congestion
  • Improved safety, especially when transporting hazardous materials
  • Strategic value for defense and supply chain security
  • Greater visibility of capacity and reliability through digitalisation

Available in 7 languages

The brochure was published in seven languages and widely distributed through European network partners. Conversations during the trade fair confirmed that shippers are increasingly choosing rail as a fixed part of their logistics mix. Rail is being selected more often for its reliability and scalability. Shippers indicate that rail helps them reduce risks in their supply chains and better meet sustainability and reporting obligations.

For many companies, rail is no longer just an environmental choice — it has become a logical strategic move. The publication supports that decision with clear facts, benefits, and real-world examples.
